The Bible tells of a lunch Jesus had with a Jewish religious leader. While seated, a woman with a bad reputation entered and fell weeping at Jesus’ feet. The host scoffed inwardly and even doubted Jesus’ deity for not knowing she was a “sinner”. But Jesus loved the woman and forgave her many sins. Jesus loved her just as the known sinner she was — but He didn’t leave her in that same condition.
Jesus loves you just the way you are — but He refuses to leave you like that.
“By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:9-10).
His Divine love isn’t agreement. Jesus doesn’t agree with our sin. His love is the remedy for our sin. Even more so, His incomparable love transforms us. Jesus loved that woman just as she was and He loves you just as you are. The following scripture speaks of this transforming love:
“For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:3-7).
Jesus is love and He loves YOU with a supernatural love that is pure and everlasting.
